‘All teenagers are lazy Slobs’ – Discuss

Stereotypes – Media? Government?

Social pressure s you have

Positive representations of teens

Your aspirations and how you will succeed

Persuasive devices

I don’t think it is right for the media/government to class all teenagers as lazy slobs because most teenagers are physically active and most are working and making something of their life.

The social pressures us teenagers have are the pressures which make us NOT lazy slobs because our parents would tell us to go shop, pick something up, do chores or go visit someone in our family which can make us do a lot of exercise by walking, cycling etc.

Definition of lazy is – Unwilling to work or use energy. — I don’t think teenagers are lazy because we use our energy everyday its hard for a teenager not to go out and walk around and explore we are always up and about we always make movement even if its just going to the shops.

Definition of slob is – A person who is lazy and has low standards of cleanliness. — I don’t think teenagers are slobs because we have high standards of cleanliness i.e. when we go out we always have a wash have or clothes nicely presented.

  1. This is an excellent start to your first draft – you have tackled the issues of stereotypes and how social pressures have an impact on the lives of teenagers.

    Targets
    1) Be strict with sentence length – try to use only one conjunction (and, but, also, because) per sentence
    2) Develop ideas by making this speech much more specific to you – what aspirations do you have? What stands in your way? Why? How will you overcome this?
    3) You third and fourth paragraph leave a lot of room for development – how are you tackling these stereotypes?
    4) IF the media have given teenagers a bad reputation, what will you do to overcome this issue – how would you like your audience to help?
